This project list is indicative of the wide range of low carbon biotechnology projects that the principals have completed in their career. The historic projects were primarily completed by Westar Trade Resources, which was re-branded as Global BioFuture Solutions in 2018.

USDA 9003 Biorefinery Loan Guarantee

The Biorefinery Assistant Program (Section 9003 of the 2008 and 2012 Farm Bills) provided loan guarantees to entrepreneurs eager to take advantage of the growing opportunities in renewable energy provided by advanced biofuels.

DPA Grant Program

Defense Production Act’s Advanced Drop-In Biofuels Production Project was focused on creating public-private partnerships that will provide incentives for private-sector investment in cost competitive, advanced biofuels production capability, while establishing one or more complete domestic value chains capable of producing drop-in replacement biofuels. This includes feedstock production and logistics, product blending and transportation, as well as the design, retrofit/construction, operation, validation, and qualification of domestic, commercial-scale, integrated biorefineries.

9003 loan guarantee applications for the Ryze Reno and Ryze Las Vegas renewable diesel facilities. These two facilities were funded in 2017-2018 for a total of $306 million.

Feasibility study and USDA 9003 Biorefinery Loan Guarantee Application for commercial-scale ethanol production facility in Boardman, Oregon. Zeachem received a $232 million conditional commitment in 2012.

Assisted the company in preparing a USDA Business & Industry Loan Guarantee application package and feasibility study to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for advanced, green battery technology compatiable with smart grid utilities.

Also assisted the company to obtain $300,000 value-added loan/grant from Iowa Economic Development Department, and over $2 million in tax abatements and other incentives from local and state entities.

Business plan, feasibility study, business development, and marketing consulting for $4 million strawboard plant. Assisted in negotiating the contract with Ortech Industries, Melbourne, Australia to purchase the equipment, technology, and the manufacturing rights for the Western Hemisphere. Assisted in the layout building and equipment, hiring management, and worked as the marketing director from 2000-2003 to assist in developing national and international sales, public relations, new product research and development, and plant expansion. Grant awarded for the USDA Value Added Producer Grant Program, 2002 ($137,000), 2004 ($150,000), and 2005 ($100,000).


Stramit USA

Perryton, TX

Business plan, business development, and management consulting for $3 million cooperative strawboard manufacturing plant. Services included serving as CEO for the project from 1995-1996. Obtained a $500,000 grant from the Alternative Agricultural Research and Commercialization Corporation, USDA, 1995.
